It all sounds too scientific, doesn’t it? It isn’t. There are a few things to know about polypropylene outdoor rugs.
- First of all, they are beautiful on a patio.
- Secondly, they are durable.
- And, third, they are easy to keep clean.
- Mold resistant.
That would ordinarily be enough to know. However, there are a few other facts to know about this material. It is recyclable. In fact, many of the rugs are made from recycled containers.
If there is one downside to polypropylene rugs, it is that UV light can cause degradation and crazing. Aware of this, most manufacturers include chemicals during the manufacture process to stabilize the polypropylene adding life to the product. Generally speaking, this has not been an issue of concern with outdoor rugs.
While there has been a little controversy about using polypropylene as a food container material, it is worth noting that many of those containers have been and will be recycled into the beautiful rugs. While some consumers may question the safety of using PP or polypropylene for baby bottles, kids’ toys, or as microwavable containers, few will dispute the use of the material as a hearty and durable outdoor rug material. In fact, some of these rugs are ideal as indoor outdoor rugs.
As shown below, polypropylene outdoor rugs are colorful and can be intricately detailed. Many have beautiful patterns, some simple while others are reminiscent of Persian rug patterns.
