Red is a great color for gardens as it is one of the few colors that can compete with glorious summer blooms. If you are not a great gardener, on the other hand, adding red in the form of garden accessories can compensate for the lack of color from flowers. As the patio is the focus for most gardens, you might think about adding red there. Although outdoor furniture in scarlet might be a bit over the top, you could certainly think about using red patio cushions to add some color.
When choosing patio cushions, think about the exact color red which would work with your furniture. Bright red goes with most colors of patio furniture especially natural wood, wicker and aluminum furniture as well as white PVC and furniture painted white or black. You could also choose a darker red or burgundy shade if you would prefer something more subdued.
Plain red always works, but if you think that the fabric will take quite a bit of punishment from sticky hand prints and sun oil you might like to consider a patterned fabric, as this can disguise marks more easily. After all you don’t want to be forever washing your cushions rather than sitting on them relaxing in the sun.
You will find patio cushions to fit most classic furniture shapes and sizes, but make sure that you measure your furniture carefully before ordering any cushions, so that you can be sure that the cushions will fit. If your furniture is not a standard size or shape, then you would do better to order custom patio cushions than to make do with something which does not fit properly. Poor fit often means that you cannot tie the cushion properly to the furniture, and this means that the cushions will be forever slipping about, which can be annoying when you are trying to relax.
