When you first hear about rugs you can use in the garden, you think that madness has finally overtaken the world of home improvement. Surely, you think, people have more important things to spend their money on than carpeting their garden. But actually when you look into things a little more, outdoor patio rugs are not such a bad idea.
If you have ever stepped off your garden chair onto a cold hard natural stone patio in your bare feet then you would have benefited from the softer, warmer surface of an outdoor rug. If you have ever had a splinter of wood in your foot from a rough area of decking, you could have prevented that with a rug too. The surface is so much softer for kids to play on too as well as being warmer and safer for them in an area right next to where you are sitting.
And these rugs do not just soften the surface and make it easier to walk or sit on, they are also beautiful to look at. If you are particularly green fingered, perhaps you don’t worry too much about color in your garden but many of us need a little (or a lot of) help in that direction.
You can add color with your rug, and you can also create a coordinated little enclave on your patio by matching up patio furniture cushions and flower pots already there or chosen specially to go with your new rug. You will find these rugs in colors to suit any color scheme.
Added to that, an outdoor rug will reduce the noise of people clattering over your patio or decking making your garden a much more peaceful place to relax. If you suffer from noise from kids constantly running into and out of the garden, you can reduce that with an outdoor rug placed just outside your door too.
